Warrant of Fitness on rental and/or owned properties across Raetihi, Ohākune and Waiouru made available to assess the quality and health of homes. If any repairs or action is required, the Hauora Navigator will connect the owner/tenant with the right service.
This initiative also involves investigating the possibility of requiring nightly-stay rentals to pass a commercial Warrant of Fitness as a step toward stabilising the local rental and accommodation market.
We recently supported a group of whānau, including schools, staff, parents and children who went to Auckland. Whilst there they visited Pt. England School and heard about the Maniakalani cluster of schools, benefiting from the integration of technology in to their curriculum delivery.
They also visited New Zealand Trade and Enterprise – participating in some project management exercises – good practice! And they visited the amazing Mindlab, where they got to explore some new technologies, including making their own motion videos, robotics and more!
This initiative helped to research what services and products our local Tech Hub could provide.
We are about to launch a newly established recruitment and training enterprise! With exciting employment opportunities alongside it!

Priority has been set to establish training in the Tourism and Hospitality industries, with other industries likely to be added later on. This initiative is being established to provide local training for local jobs, and local career pathways. Encouragingly, local employers from Raetihi, Ohākune and Waiouru have already begun to share information and knowledge to agree how best to work together in support of the prospective trainees and the trades training initiatives. The local skills needs analysis will inform what other trades training opportunities should be made available and perhaps more accessible in the area.
